Patrick Bamford Joins Sheffield United After Initiating Derogatory Songs About Coach Chris Wilder

The striker is now a member of the Championship side only seven months following leading disrespectful taunts targeting their manager, Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, a free agent since leaving Leeds United, has signed a contract with the Championship club in difficulty until January. Bamford's lengthy career with Leeds was ended by mutual consent this past summer.

Among Bamford’s last memorable actions while at Leeds included starting abusive chants about Chris Wilder during Leeds' promotion party in April. Currently, the former England player is set to play for Wilder as the Blades’ manager looks to lift the team he loves away from the bottom places.

Previous History Involving the Striker & Wilder

The pair had previous conflict before Leeds moved up back to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United lost the playoff final to Sunderland. Wilder called the forward as a "muppet" back when the situation was different in 2018-19 and the Blades secured direct promotion while Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation and Looking Ahead

Everything seems to have been resolved with United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of a boost up front and Bamford looking to rejuvenate his playing days.

The song about Wilder spread widely this spring. A repentant Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Wilder commented at the time: “Had a conversation with Patrick recently and I’ve no issue whatsoever with it. I'm uncertain regarding the words used from a fellow pro! However I valued and respected him giving me a call.

“We spent 20 minutes and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke as well and had a longer discussion with him and he's a great person, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would give it and accept it and that’s an integral part of football at every level, even on a Sunday morning. I have absolutely no issue. I'm fine with it and I told him that to Pat.”

Latest Career Struggles

Bamford featured in 18 games for Leeds in the previous campaign but the ex- Forest, Chelsea & Middlesbrough striker has struggled with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
